Twelve television writers and showrunners will gather in Los Angeles on Nov. 11 for an annual industry event. The gathering serves as a prelude to the fall awards season and focuses on new and returning series across three distinct genres.
The event, titled "A Night in the Writers' Room: Awards Season Edition," consists of three separate panels. Each panel features a moderator and a lineup of creators responsible for high-profile shows. The Comedy Series panel is moderated by Michael Schneider, Variety's executive TV editor. The Drama Panel is led by Angelique Jackson, a senior entertainment writer for the outlet. Jazz Tangcay, senior artisans editor, will moderate the Limited Series discussion.
The comedy segment includes Michael Patrick King and Lisa Kudrow from "The Comeback." Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw from "Adults" will also speak, along with Matt Miller from "Ride or Die" and Michael Schur from "DIG." The drama lineup features Katori Hall from "P-Valley," Brad Caleb Kane from "Crystal Lake," and Elizabeth Meriwether from "Furious." Chris Mundy, Malcolm Spellman, and Ben Watkins round out the drama panel with their respective shows "Lanterns," "The Drop: A Snowfall Saga," and "The Greatest."
The limited series panel brings together Nick Antosca from "Cape Fear" and Silka Luisa from "Blade Runner 2099." Shawn Ryan and Eileen Myers will represent the co-creators of "American Hostage." The audience is restricted to industry voters, and attendees will participate in a cocktail reception before the discussions begin.
Major streaming and cable networks support the event this year. Partners include FX Networks, Hulu, Peacock, Universal Studio Group, Prime Video, MGM+, Starz, and HBO MAX. Interested parties can request an invite through Variety's website.
