Vic Mensa balances a career in music, acting, and activism while managing multiple business ventures. He credits the Voice Memos application on his iPhone for keeping his workflow organized.

The app serves as the primary tool for capturing initial concepts. Mensa records song ideas, essay outlines, and casual observations about topics ranging from politics to fatherhood. He noted that his phone offers many distractions, but this specific function feels direct.

"Everything starts there for me," he said. "Songs, essay ideas, orange tree thoughts, voice notes to myself at some wild hour, little things my son says that I do not want to lose. Just press record before the thought disappears."

Mensa uses Instagram as his main social media platform. He began posting videos of himself peeling oranges while discussing his thoughts. That format evolved into a wider dialogue with followers about history, grief, and music. He said the engagement from those posts proved there was an audience for The Vic Mensa Show podcast.

He described the platform as a valuable tool for connection despite its chaotic nature. The response he received helped validate his decision to launch the podcast.

His upcoming album represents a new level of creative control. He said it is the first record where he took himself seriously as a producer. The project includes specific art, videos, and clothing that form a cohesive world.

To maintain focus, Mensa practices Shambhavi Mahamudra meditation and the Wim Hof breathing method. He prefers performing the breathing exercises in a steam room before sitting for meditation.
