Lily Tang Williams, the Republican nominee for New Hampshire's 2nd Congressional District, warned that a Democratic-controlled Congress could weaken U.S. national security by opening the door to greater Chinese influence. Speaking on October 28, the candidate said Beijing would exploit what she described as America's weakness if Democrats hold power in both chambers starting in January.

Williams, who fled China after the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre, stated that China wants to bring down the United States. She expressed fear that the country she loves is becoming the country she left. In her view, the Chinese Communist Party sees Democratic control as good news because the party favors open borders and seeks to defund police and abolish private property.

The nominee cited a recent trip to China by the Democratic Socialists of America as evidence of this dynamic. She claimed that more than a dozen high-ranking DSA members traveled there to produce favorable coverage of the Chinese regime. Williams argued that this demonstrates the Chinese government exploiting a vulnerable Democratic Party to promote its image in the United States, noting that the two groups now share a similar ideology.

She also raised concerns about immigration policies, suggesting they could facilitate the entry of Chinese intelligence operatives and increase espionage risks along the southern border. Williams indicated that the DSA's growing influence inside the Democratic Party could shape congressional decisions even if the party remains a minority or moderates lead. She stated that the party is hijacked by the DSA and that a DSA-run Congress is inevitable, regardless of whether moderate Democrats agree.

To support her argument, Williams referenced a recent Gallup poll showing that 43% of Americans hold a positive view of socialism. This marks the first time that figure has reached that level since 2010. She also noted that at least six new lawmakers affiliated with the DSA could join Congress in January, which she said would mean the chamber is controlled by individuals who sympathize with Marxist principles.

Williams criticized her opponent, Rep. Maggie Goodlander, for refusing to condemn Marxism or figures like New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani. She warned that lawmakers sympathetic to Marxist ideology could pose national security risks if they access sensitive classified information. Goodlander, the DSA, and the Democratic Party did not respond to requests for comment regarding these claims.

The candidate concluded by saying the country could fall from within due to a lack of strong policies to protect national security. She maintained that moderate Democratic voters remain complacent and may fear repercussions from the DSA if they speak out against extremism within their party.
