Apple TV has locked in three new series regulars for its upcoming drama Ascension, completing the main ensemble for the project. The studio announced on Tuesday that Amanda Plummer, Christopher Chung, and T'Nia Miller have signed on. No details regarding the specific characters they will portray have been released yet.

The addition brings the total number of confirmed lead actors to five. Plummer previously appeared in Run and Butterfly Kiss. Chung is known for roles in Slow Horses and My Brilliant Career. Miller has credits in The Haunting of Bly Manor and VisionQuest. These actors join Caitríona Balfe, who headlines the series, and Bill Nighy, who was announced in a previous casting update.

Alfonso Cuarón is co-writing the series with his brother Carlos Cuarón, Natalie Erika James, and Christian White. All four writers serve as executive producers. James and White, who previously collaborated on Apartment 7A and Relic, act as co-showrunners. James will serve as the lead director. Balfe is also executive producing alongside her starring role.

The production draws its narrative from the novel Last Days by Adam Nevill. The logline describes Balfe's character, Rose, as a documentary filmmaker and recently divorced mother. She investigates a 20th-century cult called the Church of Ascension. The story follows her discovery of hidden truths within the group's teachings.

Esperanto Filmoj, Cuarón's production company, is executive producing the series under an overall television deal with Apple. Gabriela Rodriguez and Richard Schwartz are executive producers for that banner. Anonymous Content is producing the show, with Steve Golin, David Levine, and Zack Hayden serving as executive producers. Apple Studios is serving as the studio.

The series is set to launch on Apple TV. The finalized cast and writing team indicate that pre-production is moving toward the next phase of development. The addition of the three new actors marks the final step in assembling the primary cast for the season.
