Apple TV has confirmed when viewers can see its long-awaited Fleetwood Mac documentary. The film, titled "Fleetwood Mac: The Chain," will premiere on Friday, January 29, 2027, nearly two years after the project was first announced.

The platform revealed the title and date in a post on X, where it also shared a short teaser. No full trailer has been released yet.

Frank Marshall, whose earlier work includes the Beach Boys documentary and "From Earth to the Moon," directed the film. It is billed as the first fully authorized documentary about the band.

According to Apple TV, the film offers "a definitive and unprecedented look at Fleetwood Mac's story." It brings together the voices, memories and perspectives of Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, all Grammy Award-winning inductees of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

The documentary begins with the five members' fortuitous meeting in 1974 and reflects on a history of more than 50 years. It covers the band's record-breaking recordings and tours, and includes never-before-seen footage and exclusive new interviews, carrying the story through to the present.

Apple TV describes the film as an examination of how the band's trials and tribulations, personal resilience and musical dexterity combined to produce songs that have stood the test of time. It follows the highs and lows of the group's career and highlights what each member contributed to what the platform calls the band's "uncommon alchemy." That union has sold more than 220 million records worldwide.

The film also asks what allowed these artists to create singular music repeatedly, and what drew them back together and kept them there when every possible pressure, both outside and inside the band, threatened to tear them apart.

"Fleetwood Mac: The Chain" will join a growing catalog of music documentaries on Apple TV. Existing titles include "Beastie Boys Story," "The Velvet Underground," "Billie Eilish: The World's a Little Blurry," "Louis Armstrong's Black & Blues" and "Bono: Stories of Surrender."

Apple TV costs $14.99 per month and is also included in the Apple One bundle. Its lineup features series and films such as Ted Lasso, Severance, The Studio, The Morning Show, Shrinking and Silo.
